UNVEILING THE ART OF DISTILLATION: CRAFTING THE TRADITION OF DUNPHAIL DISTILLERY

We take pride in being a single malt Scotch whisky distillery that embraces tradition, drawing inspiration from the time-honoured methods of crafting this beloved spirit. As we embark on our journey, we invite you to delve into the soul of our distillation process, where passion, dedication and skill converge to create a truly exceptional product.

The essence of tradition

At Dunphail Distillery, we're not just crafting whisky; we're reviving a legacy. Our commitment to tradition is reflected in every step of our production processes, mirroring the techniques employed by whisky artisans from a bygone era. It's an ode to the past, a nod to the craftsmen who laid the foundations of the art we hold dear.

Our distillation arsenal

Equipped with two 2300 litre copper pot wash stills and a 2300 litre copper pot spirit still, we've carefully chosen our tools to echo the heritage of Scotch whisky. The direct fire beneath our stills harks back to the origins of distillation, infusing our process with the authenticity and character of a bygone era.

Why a solution from the past?

In an age of technological advancements, why have we chosen to draw from the techniques of yesteryear? The answer lies in our desire to create whisky with a soul. By embracing traditional methods, we connect with the roots of Scotch whisky, ensuring that each drop carries the essence of a rich heritage.

Distillation unveiled

Distillation is the heartbeat of whisky production. It's the alchemical process that transforms a simple wash into the liquid gold we all adore. How does it work? It's a dance between heat and time, as the wash is carefully warmed, allowing the alcohol to rise and then, in time, condense back into liquid form.

The importance of still shape

The shape of the stills is our signature. It has a huge influence on the character of our whisky. It's a carefully considered aspect, impacting the separation of alcohol and the creation of the distinctive flavours that define our spirits. Our stills embody the perfect marriage of form and function.

Direct fire's role

Direct fire isn't just a choice; it's a commitment. The flames beneath our stills breathe life into the distillation process. It's a bold move and it matters. The direct fire imparts nuances that are hard to replicate, contributing to the depth and complexity of our final product.

Our passion, dedication and expertise

Distillation isn't just a process; it's an art form. The Dunphail Distillery team brings together a passion for the craft, unwavering dedication to tradition and the expertise to control every nuance of the distillation process. It's this amalgamation that sets our spirits apart.

Crafting our spirit's character

As the alchemy unfolds, our whisky takes on a character that is uniquely Dunphail. The new-make spirit, born from this meticulous distillation process, bursts with robust oils and fruit-forward flavours – think fresh apple, bright pear and succulent peach, together with the exotic allure of banana, mango, and other tropical fruits. It's a symphony of tastes that dance on the palate, a testament to the craftsmanship embedded in each bottle.

At Dunphail Distillery, we're not just crafting whisky; we're preserving a legacy. Our commitment to tradition, the choice of our equipment, the nuances of distillation – it's all a labour of love. We invite you to savour the result of our dedication, a spirit that encapsulates the essence of Speyside's rich whisky heritage.

Cheers to the art of distillation!
